Our eight
churches are all to be found in or near the town centre. Each has a loyal
congregation and a variety of activities. We can manage without one another,
so why bother being churches together? Good question — read on and find
out about us!
Churches
Together in Central Burnley is committed to serving Jesus Christ by Calling
the local churches together as the body of Christ to fulfil God’s mission
in common witness and service in our world.
Open
to the holy Spirit and recognising the diversity of the local Christian community
and the diversity of communities in Burnley we aim to …
-
Promote
and facilitate greater understanding of our different traditions in order
to deepen our relationship as the local body of Christ.
-
Lead
and stimulate local Christians and congregations to express their unity
in Jesus by serving together in mission and ministry.
-
In
the light of the Gospel to reflect together on issues which affect the
local community and the world and where appropriate take action.
-
Explore
and initiate creative and fulfilling ways of worshipping God together.
-
Enable
congregations with their leaders and clergy to recognise and reduce unnecessary
duplication of effort and activity and share resources.
