Born at Portsmouth Educated at St Bede’s Manchester and Ushaw College. Went to Cambridge University where he received the degree of M.A. Completed his studies for the priesthood at Anger Seminary in France and finally at St Mary’s Oscott being ordained at St John’s Cathedral, Salford.
                 
1888-1906 Professor at St Bede’s College any many of the younger priests of the Diocese remember him with affection as their professor of mathematics. During this time he was also very closely connected with the work in Manchester of the Catholic Evidence Guild. 1933-1939 Parish Priest St Robert’s Longsight
1939-1954 Parish Priest St Mary’s Burnley and also the Dean of the Burnley Deanery.
1946 He was elected to the Cathedral Chapter in July 1946 but due to increasing ill health, he retired in November 1954.


IRVING THOMAS

Nephew of Fr Thomas Irving (alias Sherbourne). Trained at Ushaw. While at Stockton, he also served the missions at Crathorne and Osmotherly, Yorkshire and Sedgefield, Durham. In early Laity Directories, his name is misspelt. He became a Canon of the diocese in 1852. He moved to Blackburn to replace Ft Kayem who died 6 August 1856.

IRVING THOMAS

Born at Kirkham. Brother William also a priest.

Was often known under the name of Sherbourne.

Trained at Valladolid where he was ordained.

After a brief spell, he went to assist Fr Dunn at Blackburn. and going on to Kirkham in 1813. Apart from a short spell as Rector at Valladolid from 1822-1824 he remained at Kirkham until his death.

Became Vicar General in 1841.

Born in Manchester. Educated for the priesthood at St Patrick’s College, Carlow, Ireland. Ordained at Carlow Joined the Diocese of Salford in 1899 and was finally affiliated to the diocese in 1904.

JACKSON THOMAS

Born in Preston Mill Hill Missioner Served as Rescue Chaplain at Patricroft for many years. Fr Jackson was not in the strict sense a priest of the Salford Diocese but one who lived the latter years of his life as Chaplain to the Sisters at St Joseph’s Home, Patricroft. He died after two years illness at the Alexian Brothers Home at Newton Heath at the age of 70 after a most wonderful life spent as a Missionary of St Joseph’s Society in India and Borneo where he ministered as Prefect Apostolic with extraordinary powers and leaves the memory of a life truly noble in the annals of the human race.

1983-1984 Parish Priest St Teresa’s Irlam and Chapel of Ease at Cadishead.

Died after a heart attack in Hope Hospital. He had a long history of ill health.

Born in Warrington Trained at Lisbon where he served as a Professor for some time. He might have spent some time as a priest in South Wales. Clifton Diocese until 1851

1855 - 1871 First resident priest at Our Lady’s Aspull living first at Blackrod until buildings were completed.
1871-1873 Colne to start a new parish, - his health gave way.
1873-1891 Padiham where he worked vigorously until his death on November 21st 1891.

Belonged to the Llanarth Court family and was educated and ordained at Douai.
                 
1789 Gloucester before moving to Monmouth.
1836 Retired and came to live in Manchester where he died aged 81. Buried at St Patrick’s Cemetery.

Worked in Yorkshire, Essex, Margate, Yorkshire and Durham before returning to Monmouth.
