Born at Duagh in Co Kerry, Ireland, Fr Daly was educated St Brendan's College, Killarney and the Irish College at Salamanca, Spain. He was ordained in 1881, and appointed assistant at St Anne, Blackburn, 1881-1888. He was then appointed founder rector of the new mission of St Joseph, Longsight, Manchester, which replaced the mass centre operating in the Industrial School founded by Fr Quick. In late 1909 his health gave way, and he died of a painful disease in June 1910. Fr Daly had a nephew and great nephew as priests in the Diocese.

Died  27 July 1894

Born at Newtownbarry, Co Wexford Ireland.
Educated at Marseilles, France.
Ordained as an OMI and came to England in 1840.
Initially involved in founding missions in Penzance and in vocation work, he came to Manchester when the OMI's founded the new missions at Fairfield, Blackley and Failsworth in 1845.  For reasons not too clear, the two oblates at Failsworth became seculars, one going to San Francisco and Fr Daly remaining as Rector until 1885.

He then retired but remained in the parish as chaplain to the Little Sisters and Alexian Brothers until he returned to Ireland in 1892.

Re-entered the Oblates, noviciate at Stillorgan then to Inchicore then to Belcamp Hall where he had a seizure July 13th and died July 27th.

Besides teaching at the Salford Catholic Grammar School, he acted as Cathedral choirmaster and organist and served as chaplain to the Salford Royal Hospital, Cross Lane Fever Hospital, Prestwich Asylum, and Salford Barracks. He was appointed rector at St Cuthbert, Withington, 1891-1894, and then exchanged missions, going to St Peter and Paul, Ribchester, 1894-1907. Bishop Casartelli appointed him  Chairman of the Diocesan Commission on Church Music. He became a Canon in 1907 but appears to have resigned from missionary work owing to ill health. In 1914 he ceased being an active Canon and was made an Honorary one. He died at St Joseph's Hospital, Whalley Range, in 1917 and was buried at Moston Cemetery. He wrote some music for parish use,

Sources: Obituary 1932 Almanac; PV1-309 states he was affiliated and lists a confusion of moves, some with very unclear dating.  His obituary notes that he was apostolic, perhaps somewhat scrupulous, a model of priestly piety but that he never quite assimilated the English character.  It also mentions he met his dath accidentally, but does not say how.

On 21 October 1864 he was appointed as professor to the newly opened Salford Catholic Grammar School, living at the Cathedral and caring for souls in the area of the future Mount Carmel Mission. In April 1891 he became Rural dean in succession to canon Formby. He was then made parish priest of  St Luke, Irlams o'th Height, Salford, 1930-1932.
